Schwang informationNick: SchwangSchwang's reviews:
"Not enough" (by Schwang, 13 Apr 2006) [3/10] Only one tune in here. It's short and very basic. Nothing more to see here. 1943: Arranged/Remixed tunes "Sound familiar?" (by Schwang, 13 Apr 2006) [4/10] Too reminiscent of 1942. Most probably won't be impressed, the tunes are pretty basic and could do with at least some moderate refinement. 1830 Railroads and Robber Barons: Game rip "Upbeat!" (by Schwang, 22 Mar 2006) [7/10] We have some quick & upbeat little tunes here, you can harly keep from smiling or tapping a foot. Very old-fashioned, most won't find these "cool" to listen to, but they are very well crafted and executed. Atomaders: Game rip "Foot-tapping!" (by Schwang, 16 Mar 2006) [7/10] A good collection of well-composed little tunes in here. Pity the filenames are not descriptive (Music1, Music2...), it would help to be able to picture where in the game this music would fit if you haven't played it before. Ultima 7: Game rip "Excellent!" (by Schwang, 15 Mar 2006) [9/10] Clever melodies, ranging from the spirited and invigorating to the heartbreaking have always been a hallmark of the Ultima series, and Ultima 7's music was the pinnacle of Origin's musical creativity. Ultima 8: Game rip "Haunting." (by Schwang, 15 Mar 2006) [8/10] The music captured the game's dark and eerie foreboding mood very accurately, especially in the case of the Cemetary tune (a personal favourite) and the Docks tune, while most others are more designed as background music. BloodNet: Game rip "Not listenable." (by Schwang, 15 Mar 2006) [2/10] This music certainly gave the game a very distinctive flavour, but on its own the music is unlistenable. Even in the game it had a non-understandable modern artsy kinda feel to it. Avoid. Syndicate: Game rip "Silent Syndicate?" (by Schwang, 15 Mar 2006) [5/10] Nothing to keep you coming back here. The music suited the game adequately but set more of a "stealth game" mood than a "cybernetic soldier game" mood. 7th Guest, The: Game rip "Class!" (by Schwang, 15 Mar 2006) [9/10] Excellent, atmospheric piano & lounge music, perfectly themed to the game itself. Masterfully composed to set a dark, brooding and mysterious mood. Also very tastefully executed. 11th Hour, The: Game rip "1st sequel" (by Schwang, 15 Mar 2006) [9/10] Not surprisingly, this music is very similar to 11th Hour's prequel, 7th guest, as the music reveals. As such, I rate it the same. Most tunes have their own identity, nearly all of them "borrow" from the original. Good, and spooky! System Shock: Game rip "System ROCK!" (by Schwang, 15 Mar 2006) [8/10] The musicians at Origin seem to have the knack for theming their music to the game. Good tunes in here, some with a sweet rock flavour. Be sure to crank up the Intro and the Cyberspace tunes. The Endremix wraps up the End tune with the Intro and Cyberspace riffs. Oh, and the Elevator tune is a laugh! |
