Razorback informationNick: RazorbackRazorback's reviews:
"ho hum" (by Razorback, 6 Oct 2011) [5/10] Bland fast technoish tunes. A bit dated and dull. Zodiac Tower: Game rip "Nice easy listening...wish there was more!" (by Razorback, 4 Mar 2011) [7/10] Really nice tunes, gentle with some surreal subtle sounds to spice them up. I wish there were more than two! Cube-X: Game rip "Nothing special" (by Razorback, 2 Nov 2010) [3/10] Some nice sampling ruined by bland tunes and tinny beep like notes. A pity. Elvira: Mistress of the Dark: Game rip "Excellence" (by Razorback, 1 Nov 2010) [10/10] If you love good music and ambience, download this soundtrack. It's fantastic. Galaxus: Game rip "Pleasant surprise" (by Razorback, 1 Nov 2010) [8/10] Some nice futuristic space tunes here, combining ambience with funkiness, not perfect but fun to listen to. Slithereens: Game rip "nothing to see here" (by Razorback, 1 Nov 2010) [3/10] Typical functional gaming music. Nothing special and not worth the download unless you are feeling sentimental. Zalycon: Game rip "Not bad" (by Razorback, 16 Nov 2009) [6/10] Not too bad quality, some of the tunes are a bit too busy and slightly grating but otherwise some decent samples. Dungeon Master 2: Legend of Skullkeep: Game rip "Beautiful and dark" (by Razorback, 11 Mar 2009) [9/10] Wow, what a moody soundtrack! I love it. Very sublime and surreal. One of the best fantasy soundtracks I've heard and perfect for dungeoneering. Last Ninja 3, The: Arranged/Remixed tunes "Good compilation" (by Razorback, 24 Apr 2008) [8/10] While the one or two of the tunes are dated, they convey the mood of the game perfectly. You can tell by listening that a lot of effort has gone into this collection. Some great tracks with a nice mystical eastern touch. Kid Chaos: Game rip "Pretty average" (by Razorback, 24 Apr 2008) [5/10] This set showed potential at first. It ends up just being pretty bland, repetitive and somewhat irritating at first. There are not as many tunes as you may think. There are about 5 stages divided into 4 parts. Each stage has its own tune and each part is a variation on that tune. Pinball Illusions: Game rip "Average" (by Razorback, 12 Feb 2008) [6/10] Definitely not the best pinball soundtrack I've heard. I was disappointed myself. Not terrible but I expected much better. Pekka Kana 2: Game rip "Happy go lucky" (by Razorback, 12 Feb 2008) [3/10] Merry blend of arcadey tunes, but nothing that will keep your interest for very long. More likely to annoy than enjoy. Painium Disaster: Game rip "Suprisingly good!" (by Razorback, 12 Feb 2008) [8/10] Nice moody electronic music. Very well composed. One or two miss the mark, but all in all a good collection. Give it a try. Kasei Vallis: Game rip "Good Effort" (by Razorback, 12 Feb 2008) [7/10] Very nice range of ambient tunes which do indeed make for easy listening. Some are a little too easy and subtle for my tastes but others definitely have that futuristic/dreamlike ambient quality which I really enjoy. Jaguar XJ220: Game rip "Pretty average" (by Razorback, 12 Feb 2008) [6/10] I'm afraid I have to be the odd one out here. I don't think the tunes are that great, but seeing as I have never played the game I don't have any kind of memories associated with it. In an objective opinion, I say there are some well composed tunes, while others sound pretty dated and are nothing more than background noise. Hazard Ball: Game rip "Pretty Cool" (by Razorback, 12 Feb 2008) [8/10] As I've stated before, I'm a big fan of pinball and puzzle tunes they make for some great ambient tracks. Nice large selection here which makes for pleasant listening. Escape from Delirium: Game rip "Bland" (by Razorback, 12 Feb 2008) [4/10] One or two potentially nice ambient tracks. The rest are either way too short or lack anything resembling music. One to avoid I think. Dark Vengeance: Game rip "Some great tunes." (by Razorback, 30 Jan 2008) [7/10] I can understand what my fellow reviewer meant about the slow serious tracks, I love them. Ambient, dreamlike, broody. My favourite kind of music. For others with the same taste, I recommend this download. Some of them seem unfortunately out of place and upbeat in comparison, which will detract from my overall score. Cyberpunks: Game rip "Repetitive" (by Razorback, 30 Jan 2008) [4/10] I downloaded this not expecting much and you know what? That's what I got. Wasted potential, heard one of the tunes, you've heard them all. And the composer seems to have falled in love with a very irritating and out of place sample that is heard in a couple of the early tunes. You'll know it when you hear it. Bleh. Clone: Game rip "Interesting" (by Razorback, 30 Jan 2008) [6/10] Moody and horror themed. These tracks could easily fit into a castlevania title or perhaps even an Elvira game. Could have been better, but I think I like it. Amiga Columns: Game rip "Decent" (by Razorback, 30 Jan 2008) [7/10] It seems a trend for amiga puzzlers and pinballers to have interesting/ambient soundtracks. This one is a bit dated at times but has some really good samples. It's biggest detractor for me was that it's in .med format. Rebel Runner: Operation: Digital Code: Game rip "Easily forgettable" (by Razorback, 30 Jan 2008) [5/10] While definitely not the worst tunes I've heard, all the tracks degenerate into bland background noise. The kind you'd hear on an old arcade platformer. If that's your thing, this soundtrack is for you. Akira: Game rip "Dont bother" (by Razorback, 13 Sep 2005) [3/10] The first two tracks had slight promise as they seemed to be based (albeit poorly) on the Akira soundtrack. Then the rest of the tunes just descend into rubbish. Rubbish music for a rubbish game. Acid Tetris: Game rip "Surprisingly Cool!" (by Razorback, 13 Sep 2005) [7/10] Some nice ambient tunes in an almost 80s style of synthisised music. (Which I happen to love) May not be to everyones taste, but I enjoyed it. Microcosm: Game rip "Truly excellent" (by Razorback, 18 Jul 2005) [9/10] Stunning music here, I was actually blown away as soon as I started playing it. Download it now! Very much a cyber/ambient feel. Hook: Game rip "Tranquil and soothing" (by Razorback, 26 Apr 2005) [9/10] Ambient and dreamlike tracks, they definitely deserved a better game than Hook, but they also complimented it very well, providing a rich atmosphere. Recommended to fans of fantasy and ambient music. Ishar 3: Game rip "Dont bother" (by Razorback, 12 Apr 2005) [3/10] Nothing special here. Very tinny and basic. Pretty disappointing really. Axelay: Game rip "Decent Enough" (by Razorback, 24 Mar 2005) [6/10] If you are a fan of japanese sci fi game music, then give this a try. Daggerfall: Game rip "Better than Morrowinds" (by Razorback, 26 Jan 2005) [8/10] Probably some of the best music I have ever heard in an RPG. Get it...get it now! Doom: Game rip "Excellent" (by Razorback, 26 Jan 2005) [7/10] Brilliant tracks, for anyone who loves old game music, these come highly recommended. Elvira 2: The Jaws of Cerberus: Game rip "Awesome!" (by Razorback, 17 Nov 2004) [9/10] Sounds brilliant, great horror tracks, very dark moody and ambient. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: Arranged/Remixed tunes "Nothing special" (by Razorback, 17 Nov 2004) [4/10] Just your usual fare of tinny boppy music which nobody really listens to anyway while playing. Very average. Elvira the Arcade Game: Game rip "Well...I like it." (by Razorback, 12 Oct 2004) [7/10] There seems to be some confusion as to what music belongs to what game. 2 tunes from the Elvira 2 mix can be found here as well. Not fantastic stuff, but fair listening with the occasional cool surprise of quality. Dreamweb: Game rip "Cyberpunk" (by Razorback, 11 Oct 2004) [7/10] Moody and ambient, a great soundtrack to a Bladerunneresque thriller of a game. Mystic Towers: Game rip "Set the Standard" (by Razorback, 4 Oct 2004) [10/10] Ever since I played this game I was obsessed with the music, so much so that I plugged my soundboard into the radio and taped it. Who would have though that a shareware title (a real fun one too!) could have such incredible music that has yet to be matched in terms of atmosphere? Awesome. |
