User reviews

  • "'Introduction' tune" (by Dr. Spa, 2 Jan 2008) [8/10]
The only memories I have of this game was from the trailer I saw on a 1996 magazine cover CD. The tune which was played in the backround was the introduction midi (track 1). I'd download this archive just for that one song. It's a great instrumental song which has a lot of character and sort of tells a story even without the pictures or words. This is the sort of thing that would sound great in a musical or opera - something that tells a story.

I'm sorry I'm only talking about 1 of many, but I just want to emphasize how good this one is. Happy new year 2008!

Facts / description

In folder GM-QS:
The tracks 01-35 are named according the soundtrack tracks at http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com/.
However, the track named '24 - Meeting Ben Franklin' is missing - it is short 15 seconds
melody, which I was not able to find anywhere in MID.

Tracks 36-40 are additional bonus tracks, which haven't been found at CD, but they are played in
the game.

Additional info and tracks from Corak the Avatar (located in subfolders other than GM-QS):

Ripped 100% of music from the game in original midi format. All perfectly named.

"GM-QS" - conversion GM rips by Tom Lewandowski (Quest Studios).
"ADL" - Adlib mapped original midis
"GMD" - GM mapped original midis
"ROL" - MT-32 mapped original midis
"ROL-GM" - MT to GM midi conversions with my experimental scheme.
"ROL-pat" - Fixed-remapped MT-32 midis to sound normally on MT-32 device or Munt. Done 95%.

(Original MT-32 midi was mapped to channels out of "2-10" (1 or 11-16), had to convert them to mtx,
then mass-analyze, find best remap solution to get them perfectly working for MT32 or Munt.
Some are hard to fix, added them sepearately)

Other tools

Generate info.txt - with this cool feature you can generate the info.txt file with all tune information and save it somewhere, which means you'll have something like "tune ID card"! :) This has cool advantages - it's small, fastly readable/editable, you can add it to the tune archive if you want and you will have everytime fast information about the game and music archive. Also programs which support reading from txt files (such as KBMedia Player) can read the info.txt file directly while playing tunes of all formats!
