Facts / description

This is the original soundtrack of the Star Wars episode Shadows Of The Empire composed by Joel McNeely (except one track composed by John Williams).Originally Joel McNeely composed the soundtrack for the book, but it has also found its way into the videogame. The CD comes with a 16-page booklet and also includes a CD-ROM track for Windows and Macintosh with special Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire artwork and information about everything around this Star Wars episode! About 'Shadows Of The Empire': April 1, 1996 marked the launch of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, a new episode in the Star Wars saga told through a novel, a comic book series and a ground-breaking video game. Set in the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Shadows of the Empire depicts the ultimate triangle of evil. Plunged into the criminal underworld that carries out, in deepest secrecy, the most evil of the Empire's orders, Star Wars fans will see for the first time the syndicate of spice traders, smugglers, and assassins that operates under the iron fist of the Dark Underlord, Xizor (pronounced "She-zor"), a brilliant manipulator and beguilingly attractive alien who has become a close confidant of the Emperor Palpatine. Xizor's sway with the Emperor is challenged when Darth Vader senses his growing power and openly lobbies the Imperial dictator against such a close connection with the criminal Underworld. Rumors of dark conspiracies waft through the Imperial city of Coruscant... conspiracies aimed at none other than Vader's own son, Luke Skywalker. Since 1991, new Star Wars stories have been told through novels, comics, and videogames. However, Shadows, the first new spin-off story that is set in the time of the original Star Wars trilogy, is the first to utilize all three of these media in the telling of one story. Lucasfilm Ltd. assembled a roster of top talent to bring the story of Shadows of the Empire to life. The novel was written by Steve Perry; the comics were written by John Wagner and drawn by Kilian Plunkett and P. Craig Russell, with cover paintings by Australian artist Hugh Fleming; and the videogame for the Nintendo 64 system was developed by a team from LucasArts.
