  • "really inspirational" (by silkworm, 24 Jul 2004) [9/10]
I liked this music so much that I played it for several hours over and over (there's all in all about 30 minutes). I listened it from the game with my old SB card 10 or so years ago. I can still clearly remember that time. I was sitting on my bed, having most unusual thoughts. It was played with plain old FM synthesis. It was great in a way. These midis aren't very comparable. You have to get the game and listen it with FM synthesis.

Now I'm a hobby musician. I can reasonably play guitar and keyboards and I'm slowly improving. I also understand some musical theory. Music gives me pleasure.
I believe, that this game music gave my something in terms of motivation, inspiration and that "something" that I can't explain.

  • "Nuff said" (by animoL, 7 Dec 2004) [10/10]
Yeahp you gots it. It makes the game even better. It captures the essence of dune. I red one of the Dune books and became a life-long Dune fan.

  • "Shaddam Corrino IV" (by Warcow, 19 Dec 2011) [10/10]
Eventhough I'm a bigger fan of the music of the second game in this serie, it's great to hear the original music to the first Dune game, it's well done and very atmospheric. It also gives back some nostalgic memories which increases the rating. Got an mp3 rip of it recently that I've been listening to and realised how good it is so I had to make an update on the score.

  • "Dune ambience" (by rilco, 18 Jun 2008) [10/10]
Music in this game is so emotional. It has middle-asian tone of origin. So high above our culture, with science fiction accent, and love theme ofcourse. I like it so much.

  • "Cyberpunk" (by Argento, 11 Oct 2020) [8/10]
Reminds me of Blade Runner, didn't see the Dune movie and didn't play the game, but the music is fantastic.

Facts / description

Folder GM-MT contains the tunes archived by Obrigado from his Dune Midi page,
http://www.terravista.pt/Nazare/4347/midis/midis.html . However, I'm not sure if
the tunes are originated for Roland MT32 or General Midi. I know original game
tunes were for MT32 only, but for me the tunes seemed to sound right also on GM.
However, if you'll have any more info, let me know.

Folder GS contains Dune Soundtrack in one big midi file captured by Stp
(C. Lialiambis) with Roland Sound Brush. Original Midi in MT-32 Rearranged for
GS by Stp (C. Lialiambis)

Tracklist:

Dune Theme
Chani's Eyes
Free Men
Wake Up
Sign on the Worm
Spice
* * *
